INSTRUMENTAL INTRO
Oh, oh, oh, oh…

VERSE ONE
Peel myself from these old crumpled sheets.
Afraid of the morning without you I can’t compete.
I kid myself it’s a brass brand new day,
Recurring reaction to chase my blues away.
Chase my blues away, oh oh.

VERSE TWO
Keep your canine feelings to yourself.
I’ll just laugh, it’s crazy but it helps.
Sorry pride, this time no trying to hide.
Thoughts of dread and death fucking me up inside.

CHORUS
BUT I CAN’T KEEP MYSELF
FROM UNDER THE SHADOWS OF MID-MORNING SUN!
THERE’S NO CHANCE IT’S THE WAY IT CAN STAY,
HEY HEY.
NO CHANCE IT’S THE WAY IT CAN STAY, OH NO.

VERSE THREE
The midday sun reflects a burning fear.
And soulful thoughts, tomorrow will I be here?
Daily it’s hard with the things that you did to me.
Now I’ll just sit here on the brink of sobriety.

CHORUS
BUT I CAN’T KEEP MYSELF
FROM UNDER THE SHADOWS OF MID-MORNING SUN!
THERE’S NO CHANCE IT’S THE WAY IT CAN STAY,
HEY HEY.
NO CHANCE IT’S THE WAY IT CAN STAY, OH NO.

CHORUS OUT
I PEEL MYSELF FROM THESE OLD CRUMPLED SHEETS.
AFRAID OF THE MORNING WITHOUT YOU I CAN’T COMPETE.
I KID MYSELF, TO CHASE MY BLUES AWAY.

BUT I CAN’T KEEP MYSELF
FROM UNDER THE SHADOWS OF THAT MID-MORNING SUN,
NO NO.
